Kikuko Sakota, a Japan-based artist has been exhibiting her work in and out of Japan since 1999. Studied in U.S.A. and Japan, she has sought for abstract style using mainly acrylics on canvases, focusing on color deployment, composition, use of brushstrokes, staining and dripping of acrylic layers to create the depth on the picture plane, in her view, to express a sense of passing time. Occasionally, fiber paste and adsorbent are used to add various nuances and textures.
Her themes are the existential time and spaces of her personal experience in her daily humdrums: a morning light, the freshness of a stroll, a rhythm of music, etc. Her attempt is to transform seemingly neglectable but precious ones to invite viewers in an artistic moment.
